Senior Exercise Programme

Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10.00 am to 11.00 am at the Recreation Centre , Lincoln University. The programme changes every three months. The group is very friendly, relaxed and supportive of new members. Register at the Community Care office for a modest Annual sub. One session is offered as a free trial

  • For CCL members over the age of 65
  • Held at Lincoln University Recreation Centre.
  • Every Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, except for public holidays
  • Run by a qualified personal trainer
  • Exercises vary. A low impact warm up is followed by exercises, these focus on different muscle groups and balance. There is an opportunity to use the equipment in the University Recreation Centre.
  • Regular morning teas
  • Very modest annual cost for CCL members
  • Head to the Lincoln University Recreation Centre on any of the exercise days for your free trial.  After your trial please call in to Community Care Lincoln to register.

Lincoln Walking Groups

There are three groups open to Community Care Lincoln members (you can join CCL for a small annual subscription). These groups meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The groups are very social and welcome new members. Some walks are around Lincoln, others venture further afield to discover new places

The groups have limited numbers and when they are full you may put your name on a waiting list. Contact our office at 16 Lyttelton Street, Lincoln,  phone – (03) 325 2007, email – admin@lincolncomcare.co.nz.

Tuesday Group
  • Tuesdays walks in Lincoln, surrounding areas, and away from Lincoln
  • Walks at Lincoln start at 10 am at Lincoln Community Care
  • Walks away from Lincoln can start earlier depending on bus schedules or car pooling requirements
Wednesday Group
  • A mix of walks around Lincoln and further afield.
  • Walks at Lincoln start at 10 am at Lincoln Community Care
  • Walks away from Lincoln usually start earlier depending on bus schedules or car pooling arrangements (generally about 9.30 am)

There are plenty of opportunities to chat over coffee and while walking.

Friday Group

This group has a weekly walk around Lincoln or nearby, starting at 10:00 am from Community Care.

Cycling Group

Cycling groups meet at Community Care Lincoln every Tuesday at 1 pm (Winter) and at 1.30 pm (Summer). Experience a variety of trails ranging from Halswell to Motukarara. New members are welcome.

  • The cycling group meets every Tuesday afternoon at Community Care Lincoln, weather permitting.
  • The start time is 1:00 pm.
  • Distance cycled depends on the number with E-Bikes and ranges between 25 to 30 kms.
  • The route is organised the week prior.
  • There is a stop for a much needed coffee break and social chat at the destination.
  • Routes cycled are mainly out of Lincoln and to name a few Motukarara, Wigram, and Haswell.

SAYGo  Falls Prevention Exercise Classes

Improve your  Balance – Mobility – Strength – General Fitness – Well being.
On Wednesdays from 1.30 to 2.30 pm at Community Care Lincoln, 16 Lyttelton Street, Lincoln (behind the Lincoln library)  
Falls are often preventable!  Falling over is not a natural part of ageing.  
There are other SAYGO classes running around Canterbury.
